Short Course In Graphic Design

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Short Course In Graphic Design

A graphic designing course should normally be pursued as a degree course, which takes two to three years to complete. This is the most recommended course because it provides a detailed study of all aspects of graphic designing and makes the student an expert by demanding a great deal of practice. To some people the time may seem to be too long and there may be some cases where people cannot afford to put in three long years, due to some other engagements. This is where a short course in graphic design solves the issue.

Short courses in graphic designing are of the duration of three to six months and are not as expensive as the degree courses or the diplomas, which take up to two to three years of your life. The short courses in graphic designing start from teaching you the basics of designing, developing a color sense, visualization of the story, creation of characters and finally putting them into moving pictures. Short courses are available as a full package including the above mentioned activities or may include individual courses of different aspects related to graphic designing. The student has the option of choosing the different sub-courses that comprise the whole package of graphic designing. People who want to pass their vacations learning something new and interesting, but do not want to pursue it as a profession, take up these short courses generally.

The short-term courses are not that beneficial to a student contrary to the degree courses. This is because short-term courses are completed in a very hushed up manner and the student does not get the necessary practice which is mandatory and without which the course does not have any meaning and value. These courses would give you a certificate after the completion, but even the certificate would not have much value to get you placed in a good company as a graphic designer. You will also be deprived of the perks and facilities. In case you manage to get placement in an average company, you will either be recruited at a junior level or as a trainee.

Graphic designing is an upcoming profession that is gaining new heights in the industry. It promises great careers in future for the people who have the creativity in them, ability to visualize and the art of storytelling. It also needs a great deal of practice everyday to become an expert and that is the reason why short courses are less recommended, as they do not make you a master of the subject and remains of no use after completion.

Therefore, in the nutshell, we can comment that a short course in graphic design should not be your priority while deciding to pursue a course in graphic designing for carving a niche in this field.
